It’s been more than a month since the end of the 30 Day Reading Challenge and finally here’s my wrap up.
I completed Anna and The French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins which was expected since I was already on the last quarter of the book.
With 15 days to go after finishing Anna and The French Kiss, I was hoping to finish Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll during the challenge but it was a very slow read. I think since it’s my first time reading a classic, I’m not used to the writing style. Even up till now, a month after the challenge, I still have not finished and have been procrastinating on reading it.
As for the last poetry book, Dirty Pretty Things by Michael Faudet, I started it after Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland became too slow and I wasn’t motivated to read it. I only managed to get a quarter of the book read during the challenge since I was trying to read more of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
Out of the 30 days, I did read on 21 days. The 15 days when I was reading Anna and The French Kiss went by really well. On the first few days of reading Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, I only read a few pages each day, before not reading for the next few days and then starting Dirty Pretty Things to keep the challenge going.
Since Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was my priority, I went back to it on the last few days of the challenge and finally made some progress with the help of audio book which was my first time listening to an audio book.
I wouldn’t say this 30 Day Reading Challenge was a success but it wasn’t a failure either. I think it’s my best attempt at a reading challenge. If it wasn’t for the slow read, I would have done better. At least I still kept going by starting another book and opening myself up to audio books.
